Why do people believe that men such as Jerry Falwell represent more than a tiny percentage of Christians? Some even believe that zealots like him were responsible for winning the election in Bush's favor! Supposedly, it's because of the lack of outcry against the likes of him from more moderate Christians. Supposedly, it's their responsibility to tell the world, "He doesn't represent us."
I'll accept that, but what does that mean for other groups?
Islam is called the religion of peace, despite the fact that some of its members love to rape and behead others in the name of political protest. What's worse is that there isn't much outcry from moderate Muslims. When was the last time you've heard a press conference from a prominent Muslim leader telling the world, "They do not represent us?" So, by using the enlightened logic above, that means that all Muslims in the world support the raping and beheading done in the name of Islam. Religion of peace? Pfft.
Michael Moore, the Dixie Chicks, and many other celebrities are very active liberals who have declared themselves enlightened and the only ones worthy of informing the ignorant public of the truth of George W. Bush and the United States of Corruption. Supported by an army of activists holding up signs that curse America and her people, they are dragging everything left of moderacy into lunacy. Some might say that these people don't represent them, but if that's the case, then why were Michael Moore and other Hollywood liberals embraced by Democrats at conventions? Why are there no press conferences by leaders of the Democrat Party denouncing these people? Because the leaders of the Democrat Party are not denouncing them, the lunatics must represent all liberals!
What's the moral here? Because the moderates aren't speaking out against their more zealous peers, they are no different. All Christians are white racist homophobes, all Muslims are violent raping terrorists, and all liberals are narcissistic pompous asses. That is why moderates must take to the streets and show their support against the fringe. That is why they must take to heart the advice of Lindsay Lohan and Speak! Come on and let it out! Give it to me! You know that I can take it! Speak! Because the more you say, the more that I'm at ease! Come on, don't keep me waiting now. Don't want to guess. Not a test. Tell me what you're thinkin'. Keep it real! No big deal, tell me what you're dreamin'. Speak! Let it out! Breath!
