Less Vicious, Less Condescending, and Less Bitchy

After reviewing some bookmarks to check if any CDs came out, I found something shocking! Trent Reznor has some nerve to talk about corporate greed winning the election! But what should I expect from somebody whose entire CDs consist of whining (not that I don’t love them)?

Anyway, after reading Trent’s reaction to Bush’s victory, I wanted to check Shirley Manson’s reaction on the official website of her wonderful band, garbage. Here’s what she wrote near the end of the election:

Of course there is a slim chance that [Bush] won't [win] but I'm going to bed now feeling somewhat dismayed and defeated. It is a horrible feeling to realise that one's beliefs are so out of step with the majority and yet I have never felt more sure of where I stand over my liberal ideals.

It's the morning after and poor old Kerry has conceeded. What a sad state of affairs.

It truly blows my mind that America has embraced this administration.I can only conclude that people have not armed themselves with enough information. That they have been hoodwinked and mislead by a cowed press. That they are so fearful that they refuse to take a chance on new leadership and that they are unable to distinguish the enormous difference between Al Qaida and Iraq.

I love America. It's a wonderful, beautiful country that has been so good to me.It changed my life and I love it deeply and unequivocally but it is at times like these that I find it so very hard to understand.
Mercifully the lord of elections may very well taketh away but he also doth giveth!!! Today marks the offical start of the NBA season...

Her words pleasantly surprised me as one of the most positive and least condescending reactions I’ve seen from liberal celebrities. Not only did she not call those who voted for Bush Nazis, but she didn't even diss America! Sure, she think we’re naïve and fearful, and she might think we’re stupid too, since she mentions the IQ chart somebody showed her, but when compared to the likes of Linda Rondstadt and Janeane Garafalo, I take no offense to what she says at all!

I’ll start reading her journal. Sure, she’s a liberal, and she’s passionate about it, but she sounds sane, so the least I could do is be sane and not let her differing political beliefs irritate me. I just hope she doesn’t mention her period again.

Well, its nice to see a relatively un-rabid remark from a celebrity, but i honestly dont care what ANY of them have to say about politics. i wish theyd just shut up and entertain me, like they used to.

I'm a liberal and I agree with you there. Probably most of them don't know jack about politics, and try to use their fame to get their unfounded opinions across, especially Britney "I think we should just blindly trust eveything the President does" Spears, queen of the 55-hour marriage. That's the good thing about freedom of speech. We can call these people morons.
